Taxonomic definition
Taxonomic definition A tonsil of cerebellum is a segment of cerebellum [segmentum cerebelli ] which is a rounded lobule on the undersurface of the cerebellar hemisphere, continuous medially with the uvula of the cerebellar vermis and superiorly with the flocculonodular lobe.
Notes
Recent data suggest that the Tonsilla is comparable to the Dorsal paraflocculus, and the Paraflocculus accessorius to the Ventral paraflocculus (see Voogd and Ruigrok 2012). The Paraflocculus accessorius forms part of Lobule HIX.
